Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

Partially Cleaned Dug Coin

Yesterday I was talking about this coin that I was trying to identify.  It is still not very clean, but it is now clean enough that I have figured out what it is.

One small thing that originally made me think it was a fake treasure coin when I first saw it was a very shiny

8/12/12 Report - Crusty Coins and Black Sand

Written by the Treasureguide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

Surface Find Indicating Possible Presence of Other Targets

I often remind detectorists to keep their eyes open.  A surface coin might be the first indication you get of the possible presence of a nearby coin line or coin hole.  As I've mentioned before, I've known people who do not own a detector but

7/14/12 Report - More on Working Cuts and Reading Finds - A Recent Example

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

Cut Found Yesterday

Here is a nice cut.   It is about three or four feet high, but I wouldn't pass it up if it was only a six inches high.   It is well placed.

This is the type of cut that I would never pass up without checking.   You can see the vegetation on top of the dune.  That means the sand

Can You Believe This Stuff?

The item shown to the right is from an October 2011 auction by Manor Auctions.  It has nothing to do with the Florida Collection that I'll discuss below.  Other similarly big gaudy items were also in the auction.

4/23/12 Report - Pile of Coins & More

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.

Coins At Ferry Boat Pilings.

There must be a hundred pounds of all kinds of coins around these pilings.   I saw them a couple of days ago.   If you could get access to dive here, imagine all of the coins on the bottom.  You wouldn't have to use a metal detector,  Just scoop them up.

And you know that

9/27/11 Report - Beach Front Cobs - How They Get There

Written by the TreasureGuide for the exclusive use of treasurebeachesreport.blogspot.com.Raft Recently Found on Treasure Coast Beach.I don't know if this is from immigrants floating in or something else. It reminds me of other rafts that I've seen on the beach, although most of them were much more substantial and used by Cubans arriving at South Florida. Thanks to Bob H. for the photo. He said

7/30/11 Report - Canadian Foreign Coins, Auction Results & the US Debt Tax

Some Canadian Coins Found on Florida Beaches by Detector. It is not unusual to find Canadian coins in Florida. Some resort areas are heavily visited by our Canadian friends, who like everyone else, lose coins on the beach. When I started detecting, to find the value of foreign coins, or any coins for that matter, you had to have a book. Now most everything can be found on the internet. That makes

6/2/11 Report - Florida Laws & Identifying Fake Coins

Parts From Rosary? (Photo submitted by Michael H.)That is what Michael H. thought his finds might be. He also recently found what looks like a musket ball on Fort Lauderdale beach. People don't often associate thinks like musket balls and shipwrecks with much of South Florida, but they have those things as well.I recently made some comments about detecting South Florida, and mentioned some of

4/20/11 Report - Rio Mar and Auctions

Rio Mar is one of those shipwreck treasure beaches that I consider to be a secondary treasure beach. In my opinion it is not one of the top five or six, but still good. I like it because you can sometimes find older US coins and modern jewelry besides the rare cob. Unfortunately it was cut pretty nicely years ago but they fixed it up and it now has a lot of sand. The treasure ship there is thought

12/4 Report - Silver Earring & Sea Beans

Silver Earring Found on a Treasure Coast Shipwreck Beach. This is one of those things that frustrates me. It is so difficult to properly identify unmarked items found on a beach. I think it is just as difficult to properly identify items found in the water around a shipwreck, but I think they often get a pass and quickly conclude that if an item is found near the pile, it is part of the shipwreck.

12/2/10 Report - What a Difference a Day Makes - Sometimes.

Beach South of the Fort Pierce Inlet This Morning.I stopped here yesterday morning and was surprised once again by how many coins you can find on some of the Treasure Coast beaches. There are so many detectorists out there and some of the beaches are detected to death, but other beaches evidently aren't hunted that much.Yesterday I stopped by John Brooks to see what was going on because I got a
