6/3/13 Report - More on a Recently Found Cob, Big Signal & Browsing Books for Treasure

Cut on Treasure Coast Yesterday Afternoon.

The cob shown below is the same one that I showed yesterday.  As I discussed yesterday, you can see the mint mark and the first three digits of the date.


We can probably narrow the date down a little more.   The cob came from a well-known 1715 Fleet

One Small Cob Found This Week on Treasure Coast


 A few days ago I showed the other side of this cob that was found this week.  You could clearly see the cross and could tell that it was a Mexican minted cob.

At that time I couldn't see any detail on the other side except for part of the circle of dots

You can clearly see the center of the shield and to the right of that you can see the "2" indicating the denomination.

One of the things I like about cobs is the huge number of variations.  Small details can sometimes be a clue to the date the cob was produced.
