Why we squeezed lemons from Vis
After partnering with local lemon producers, HEINEKEN Croatia presented a limited edition of Karlovačko Lemon Natur Radler – the first radler on the Croatian market made using local lemons from the island of Vis.

The agency's task was to come up with the packaging and accompanying direct B2B communication with the aim of telling the story about the 100% natural ingredients as well as the authentic Vis lemons used to make the special edition of Karlovačko Lemon radler.

The bottle, illustrated with Vis landmarks, was packed in a paper box together with freshly picked lemons from Vis and a special letter whose content could be read only if smeared with lemon juice. This Vis story package was then sent out to all Heineken business partners.

Ledo Ice-creams (Student Project)

Designer: Leonarda Komen
Project Type: Student Project
School: School Of Design
Course: Visual Communications
Tutor: Stipe Brčić
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Packaging Contents: Ice cream

Ledo is the largest Croatian producer of ice cream with Snjeguljica (Snow White) being their first ever made when they launched the company in all the way in 1958. Snjeguljica, made of vanilla filling with cocoa coating, immediately won over the hearts of all, both children and adults. In the 80's Ledo released Njofra, punch filling with cocoa and oats coating, and in the 90's Silk-Milk, vanilla and strawberry filling with cocoa and oats coating.

All three ice creams are as shaped exactly the same and are as simple as they can possibly be. They differ only in a few ingridients and are actually an upgrade of each other. Although Silk-Milk is the most interesting one, Snjeguljica being the simplest is still, even after sixty years, the first choice of many.

The concept was based on the fact that these products are essentially a Croatian synonym for ice-cream. They have been a firm favourite for generations and that deserves a proper timeless, simple and iconic design. Something that could have been equally suitable in the 50s, 80s and 90s when the ice creams were originally released as it could be today. Although the majority of people are fimiliar with the ingredients of each flavour, they are still showcased within the lettering and patterns which also show a delicate and creamy look.

Royal Al'iksir

Designer: Nina Romic
Photographer: Nina Romic
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: TAZ trade Ltd.
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Packaging Contents: Honey
Packaging Materials: Glass, Paper, Plastic

I made luxury brand for a line of honey products and packaging design for the Arab market.

The characteristics of the brand: exclusivity, premium packaging design, combination of packaging made of glass and cardboard, the attractiveness of which is associated with prestige, premium quality and exclusivity "hard to get".

The name Royal Al'Iksir was created by combining the words ”royal” and ”elixir”. The word ”elixir” comes from the Arabic ”al'iksir” which means healing sweet liquid, and that's exactly what this honey is.

Slogan golden flavor describes the aroma, taste and smell of honey, and emphasizes its exclusivity and prestige as a premium product.

For the logo is used serif font to give the impression of luxury, quality and exclusivity, all that Royal Al'iksir actually is. The logo consists only of the names of honey, because after the jar is placed within the hexagon (honeycomb) which is also illustrative of a particular taste of honey, there is no need for additional accessories, extensions and elements of the logo.

Children's Food Packaging

Designer: Karla Novak
Project Type: Student Project
Photographer: Pavel Posavec
Teaching Assistant: Romana Kajp
Tutor: Nenad Dogan
School: Faculty of Architecture, School of Design, Zagreb
Course: Visual Communication
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Packaging Contents: Cereal-based food
Packaging Materials: Paper

Medolino is a type of children's food that is suitable for children from 12 months of age.

The idea behind the packaging was to make the child's first experience of eating healthy food a good one.

This was achieved by making the packaging interactive by turning it into a toy.

The main ingredient of Medolino is honey so the packaging was turned into a bee character. Parts of the character's body such as wings, sting and tentacles were drawn on the sides of the packaging and outlined with a dotted line which suggested that they should be cut out.

Once they are cut out, all it takes to turn the packaging into an actual character is sticking them out.

The paper box then turns into a friendly character the child can play with while being fed.

Legionar

Creative Agency: Studio 33
Designer: Leo Vinkovic
Illustrator: Mario Djeska
Photographer: Romulic & Stojcic Multimedia Studio
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Pivovara Legionar d.o.o.
Location: Osijek, Croatia
Packaging Contents: Beer

Legionar is a small, local craft brewery in Osijek, which offers two types of high-quality, carefully selected beer - India (pale ale) and Belgian (blonde ale). The name of the brewery represents both the variation on the famous Osijek slang "lega" (from the Croatian word “kolega” meaning "a friend") and a reference to the rich history of eastern Slavonia, which dates back to (pre)Roman times, when the inhabitants of the Pannonian Plain already very much enjoyed beer. The illustrative, figurative visual identity of the brewery fits the standards of beer industry communication, but its clarity and firmness go a step further and achieve recognition by the strong articulation of the central character - the Roman legionnaire. Both beers are color coded - deep red and bright yellow, while the rest of the label stays uniquely designed.

Baranja is one of the most famous wine and gastronomic regions of Croatia, whose natural and cultural beauty get discovered by ever wider range of visitors year after year. In the wine culture of Baranja, Aleksandar Horvat’s winery is one of the youngest but also the most visible one. The visual identity of its label highlights the focus on the original central symbol - the owl. Representing the birds that live at night and rest during the day, the pictorial owl of Alexandar Winery makes their wines more approachable to the young, fun and carefree audience. The owl comes in five variations for the five types of wine: white Chardonnay and Rhine Riesling, red Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and Rosé.
