Reboot (Student Work)

Designed by David O'Sullivan, Ireland.

As part of a Second year Cork Institute Of Technology Visual Communications Project I was required to come up with a range of three products. I chose energy products, in the form of a drink, glucose sweets and effervescent tablets, I wanted to keep the design simple and clean, the graphic was inspired by molecular symbols and the power symbols was to portray turning on your energy.

Reboot is based around the Guarana plant, a natural stimulant safer than caffeine, which is now beginning to become more popular in the market place, and not leaving the body drained one the stimulant has wore off. The perfect energy fix no matter where or when.

Pasto Per Uno (Student Work)

Designed by Bethany Cosgrove, Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Ireland.

I wanted to create a fast and affordable pasta meal for one, that has a clear and simple design and structure. Attracting an audience that may not have much experience with food, or the time to prepare a meal from scratch.

Cacao Monkey (Student Work)

Niamh Richardson, a visual communications student studying in the National College of Art and Design, Dublin (Ireland)

The project was self-directed and the students were invited to write their own brief on whatever interested them the most. I chose to create an identity and packaging design for a fictional chocolate company called 'Cacao Monkey'. The text on the front of the packaging was die-cut by hand into rough brown paper, chosen to suggest the organic chocolate. This reveals the bright aluminum foil beneath, which distinguishes each flavour of chocolate. The minimal design reflects the simple, honest ethics of the brand: organic, fairtrade and eco-friendly.

The Frisky Barman (Student Work)

Designed by Alan McNamara, Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland.

A Packaging design project undertaken in college. The idea driving my concept was to have a more light-hearted approach to product design, and consequently applying this approach to my product range of Blonde Lager, Dry Roasted Peanuts and finally cheese & onion crisps. Usage of materials, sustainability and recycling properties were to influence the type of packaging I used. The reason I chose this approach was to portray a unique approach to bar snacks and drinks, designed to be eye-catching and visually appealing.

The Good Stuff Co. (Student Work)

Designed by Barbara Kozlik, Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Ireland.

This packaging was designed as part of the CIT Visual Communications course. For this project I wanted to create an attractive piece of packaging, considering both the shape of the package and the graphic solutions. The products I chose for this project are a range of healthy, 100% natural and organic snacks for a target market of middle to high class customers, aged between 25 and 40, who are looking for a healthier and natural alternative to quick mid-day treats or the evening "munchies".

The concept was mainly driven by the idea of travel and the origin of the products. Luggage tags, passport stamps, etc., acted as the main inspiration for this range. Vintage colors - soft browns, oranges, and greens give the packaging a retro feel.

Force Energy (Student Work)

Designed by Jack Redmond, Ireland.

Need a boost at sports training? Force Energy drink, bar and multi-vitamins are the best way to stimulate your mind, body and spirit. Our delicious fruit and nut energy bar, tasty energy drink and nutritious multi-vitamins are a unique combination for the perfect power kick. Once consumed as part of a healthy diet, your mind, body and spirit will be fully recharged! For this project, I intended to create range of energy products that would appeal to teenagers and adults particularly those involed in sports activities. The three products could also be targeted at people who need a wake up in the morning or students studying for exams. The main design of the product range aims to promote energy thus the battery symbols. I was inspired by my old science books from secondary school especially the diagrams of batteries and electrical theorems.

Hout Bay

Designed by The Hive, Ireland.

At the southern tip of Africa, often mere metres from the shore, the migration of the southern right whale is a keenly observed phenomenon. Their passage to the western cape to calve and nurse their young is a long established, and much like the harvest, is one of nature’s indicators of the passing of the season. It’s hard not to be affected by the majesty of this spectacle, so at Hout Bay we simply raise a glass to wish them on their way.
