Creative Director: Anette Brekke-Bjørkedal
Project Manager: Janne Stensnes
Consultant: Espen Berg
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Unil AS

Packaging Contents: Pre-cooked Porridges
Packaging Materials: Plastic

Variants

Background
Pre-cooked food continues it´s growth. Unil develops their pre-cooked porridge within the category. The porridge portions are quick and easy to prepare. They only need 3 minutes heating in the microwave. The products will be placed in the cooler shelves with other pre-cooked meals and porridges.

Task
The client was looking for a modern and simple design, preferably with illustrations and photo in a combination. The goal was to communicate a quick breakfast/snack, a pure taste, with a colourful expression. The target group is age 20-40 years, trendy and health conscious.

Solution
Several product advantages had to be communicated in a small area. More flavors could be added. So we needed to take into consideration both family resemblance and coding during the design process.

A combination of brushstrokes, penstrokes and photo were chosen from a wide specter of technics tested. The techniques gives a dynamic and characteristic expression. It also gives a great stop effect on the shelf. This modern solution communicates health and "on the go». It has preserved the white expression caracteristic for Fersk & Ferdig product line. Transparency to the product is integrated as a natural part of the design.

U.S. FEMA (Student Work)

Designed by Ludvig Bruneau Rossow, a graduation exam project at Westerdals SOC, Norway. Photography by John Tøsse Kolvik.

The year is 2030.
The post-apocalyptic darkness have fell, and the earth as we know it,
has come to an end. This is the dystopic story of man's existence after earth's destruction.

The disaster and the subsequent ice age destroyed all organic life, and all forms of human civilization. There was nowhere to hide, the earth would soon be covered by a kilometer-thick layer of ice.

All hope for the existence of humanity, would always be lost, hadn't it not been for…U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Supplies
Multi-functional, necessary, with focus on direct communication.

The supplies is designed in a way where the communication is directly connected to a room in the facility.

The symbol used on the food supplies is the same as used for the kitchen, to symbolize a clear link between the kitchen and food packaging.

Instruction Manuals
Fema's vision is to ensure the reconstruction of a new global society. Due to this, it is important that there is stored information on how to solve all sorts of problems.

Arctic Beer

Designed by Tank, Norway.

Mack’s number one-product, Arctic Beer, was changed from being a standalone product, to a series including Light and Ice versions. The client wanted a modern and young look with similarities from the predecessor – while at the same time being something new and fresh.

The solution extends and simplifies the elements that were the mainstay of the identity, but with more emphasis on the brand name and the cold freshness. The arctic purity, the clear and fresh water it is made of, and the brewery being the worlds northernmost, is the very base of the concept. It shows off in the clear blue color and ice sharp arrow that points you in the northern direction. It is freezing cold. It is refreshingly tasty. It is Arctic Beer.

Dyrøy

Designed by Tank Design, Norway.

Dyrøy Foods is a small meat producer in the picturesque district of Dyrøy, Northern Norway. They believe in a hones approach, the quality of traditional food, and the social and cultural aspects of The Good Meal. They have high quality products, but needed the packaging that could make them stand out as clear and different.

Solution: The hexagon shaped box is custom made, and stands out in the stores because of it´s characteristic shape, and it´s emphasis on the product inside. The package is kept in 100% recyclable brown cardboard, supporting the honest and sober impression. The hexagon is easily stacked both in production, transportation and in shelves. Ren Musli (Student Work)

Designed by Anders Engen, Marius Holtmon & Petter Samuelsen. Students at Westerdals School of Communication in Oslo, Norway.
We were supposed to make a packaging for "Møllerens" new line of (fictional) muesli, called "REN" (pure, clean in Norwegian). The target group were females 25+ living in the city. They care about being healty and keeping the earth clean. They are also focused on their career.

We chose a form that stood out among the other müsli-products, with a clear and clean design that fitts well into the grocery-sector. The package is an eco-friendly bottle that can be deposited and recycled. The screw cap makes it safe to carry it with you, compared to the ragular paper bags.

This is a dummy made out of cardboard and thin glossy paper.

Ren (Student Work)

Group project by the second year graphic design students at Westerdals School of Communication in Oslo Norway. Group consists of Madeleine Skjelland Eriksen, Martine Bongard and Silje Nyløkken.

Package design for fictional, organic muesli and muesli bars, aimed at conscious and successful women, occupied with health and wellness.

All materials are from recyclable sources, the packaging itself is identical on every product, but color-labeled to categorize each separate taste. The transparent quality is to keep focus on the product itself, rather than actually hiding it from the consumers.

Furthermore, there is added a zip-lock, in order to preserve the quality of the product, as well as to enhance usability and functionality.

Meyer Organic Muesli (Student Work)

Group project at Westerdals School of Communication. Group consisted of Martin Gaard, Preben Helliesen Aune and Iver Ottesen, Norway.

The assignement was to make make a packaging for "Møllerens" new line of (fictional) muesli, called "REN" (pure, clean). We decided to change the name REN, because it gave associations to cleaning products or water. So we just called it "Økologisk Müsli" (Organic Muesli).

The main target group were females who were living in the city, 25+. They care about being healty and keeping the earth clean. They are also focused on their career and have a good job.

The product was supposed to be organic, so it was important that the packaging showed that it was made of eco friendly material. The package is made of 100% recycled materials.

Our goal was to make a muesli packaging that no one had ever seen before. Then we thought why not make a sexy muesli packaging.

Vilje Musli (Student Work)

Group project at Westerdals School of communication, Oslo, Norway. by second-year students Eivind Reibo Jentoft, June Saglie Holte and Rebecca Egebjerg.

The brief was to make a package for Møllerens new (fictional) ecological muesli cereal series. The different taste's was Corn, Nut and Blueberry/black crowberry.

The main target-group are strong, well-educated, urban women in the age 25-40, Who care about making an ecological choice for both their health and the planet's.
We named the product "Vilje", it means WILL in Norwegian and is also a woman's name.

We wanted to make something that was a clear alternative to the boring and similar competition. We focused on making a package that was easy to use and didn't make a lot of mess for a quick breakfast. It is printed on 100% recycled paper.
The design is inspired by the 1940's propaganda posters directed towards woman and radiates energy, health and happiness.

Pain Plat

Designed by Mikael Fløysand in cooperation with Bendik Høibraaten, Julie Hauge & Sofie Platou at Westerdals School of Communication, Norway.

Redesign of the Norwegian unleavened bread Flatbrød (flat-bread). We were supposed to redesign a Norwegian product for the french market. Flat-bread is usually eaten together with other traditional Norwegian dishes, and is just a flat bread that doesn't really taste much. To make it interesting for the french market (as they have quite enough quality bread already), we rebranded it as a healthy snack that comes together with three different dips. We focused on creating a traditional yet modern look, marketing the product for the french market as a healthy Norwegian delicacy.

Morgenfugl Müsli (Student Work)

Group project at Westerdals School of communication, Norway. Group consisted of Anna Johanson, Hung Pham and Ole Martin Volle. (Behance Link)

We were supposed to make a packaging for "Møllerens" new line of (fictional) muesli, called "REN" (pure, clean).

The line consisted of three different tastes, original, blueberry and acai and nuts. We also had to design muesli bars with the same tastes. We decided to change the name REN, because it gave associations to cleaning products or water. We changed it to "Morgenfugl" (Early Bird) because this gave positive associations to being healty, waking up early and so on.

The target group were career women who were living in the city, 25+. They care about being healty and keeping the earth clean. We wanted a warm and friendly, but fresh design.

The product was supposed to be organic, so it was important that the packaging showed that or was made of eco friendly material.
Our package is just a dummy, but it it supposed to be made of a 100% recycled paper.
