La Naya chocolate Limited Edition

Designer: Gabija Platukyte
Photography: Benas Navanglauskas
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Silavoto B&B
Location: Vilnius, Lithuania
Packaging Contents: Chocolate
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper
Printing Process: Foil stamping, offset printint

Problem
LA NAYA chocolate is a young company having one line of chocolates. Now they want to introduce a new, limited edition line of chocolate for small boutiques and shops for chocolate lovers. The flavours are only from the cocoa beans (Vietnam, Costa Rica) and one special Tanzanian with Kaffir Lime and Lemongrass.

Task
To create a packaging for the Limited Edition chocolate. It should be simple, yet exceptional, easy to package and transport it.

Unexpected Discovery
The packaging is based on the chocolate tasting - you get the impression only when you try it. Because of that, the outside packaging is minimal: bold colours and gold foil. When you open – you may find the graphics and beauty inside. What is more, each colour reflects the flavour and cocoa bean notes. It was carefully discussed with the chocolate maker till we reached the best compromise.

Comfortable Packaging
What is more, the dielines created for this line are comfortable to pack, easy to open. It has no gluing parts and a locking in the back side, moreover, when it is open, it comes in a shape of a flower blossom to match the whole concept.

Handmade Illustrations
To emphasise the amount of work needed to make this bean to bar chocolate, we selected handmade illustration. They were created based on flavours for each chocolate bar.

Specially Created Chocolate Shape
It was a long discussion about chocolate size and shape till we finally reached the dimensions we have now. It is unusual for the chocolate as it is a little bit prolonged square, not too big, not too small - comfortable to hold in the hands. As well, the shape inhance the concept of La Naya chocolate - it reflects the mountains in La Naya village.

Break the Mold Limited Edition Chocolates

Creative Agency: Jess Glebe Design
Copywriter: Caitlin Riley, C.R. Copywriting
Project Type: Produced, Promotional Client Holiday Gift
Location: United States
Packaging Contents: Chocolates
Packaging Substrate / Materials: Paper box, Paper Wrap, Wax Seal
Printing Process: Foil stamping and Digital

2016 was a great year for Jess Glebe Design and C.R. Copywriting. It was our first full year working full-time for ourselves and doing what we love. We wanted to celebrate our successes and the successes of our clients with a year-end "Thank You" to them — as we could not have "broken the design mold" without them.

What good is a "Thank You" without the gift of chocolate to accompany it, right? What's even better? Homemade chocolate in a fancy package...that's what! That is why we put a little extra TLC into our holiday/"thank you" gifts this year.

After carefully preparing countless batches of sea-salted caramels bathed in dark chocolate and pairing them with equally delightful dark chocolate coffee truffles, we set out to package these goodies in a gift box that would do them justice. Thus, we placed our decadent treats in a quaint little box, wrapped it in ultra-smooth Neenah® SLIDE black paper (for a super-rich, smooth-to-the-touch feel), and printed the design in rose gold foil. We then placed the uncoated square centerpiece design onto the front panel, showcasing raised glossy black ink and rose gold foil.

To complete the package, we melted and stamped the Limited Edition wax seals onto the box, along with handwritten elements and our signatures. The inside of each box included a handwritten note to each recipient...and delicious homemade chocolates, of course!

MV Limited Edition Christmas Gift

Designer: Jessica Marie
Manufacturer: MW Luxury Packaging
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: n/a
Location: Global
Packaging Contents: Candle

Looking back at the past twelve months, it’s clear that 2016 has been an excellent year for everyone at MW Luxury Packaging.

MW have worked on a top secret Victoria Beckham/Estée Lauder campaign, manufacturing a black leather make-up case with fine gold detailing and a touch-activated mirror. They’ve created a limited edition carry case for the Sonos PLAY 1: Blue Note speakers, drawing on the years of experience to craft something truly evocative and timeless. They’ve won industry awards for their work, walking away from the Starpack Awards 2016 with bronze and silver trophies.

Now that the Christmas season has rolled around, MW have decided to celebrate the year’s successes by setting their sights on something a little different. “With the nights getting longer, the days getting crisper and the festive season on our doorstep, the team has come together to create a unique Christmas present for our clients and subscribers.”

MW’s gift of choice? A luxury scented candle housed in a characteristically elegant, hand assembled MW pack.

Made using a rigid grey board substructure, this multi-faceted triangular pack is cased in a protective sleeve, bearing pristine spot UV varnish to evoke the beautiful designs within. Take the pack out and you’ll find it wrapped in matt black soft touch paper, double foiled with a bespoke Christmas design. On the exterior, gold holly leaves and mistletoe nestle against black, behind a delicate silver robin.

Slip open the case using the black grosgrain ribbon and you’ll be met with the scent of mulled wine, winter spices and Christmas evenings by the fireside. Here sits MW elegant little candle, resting against a white interior patterned with gold foil images of handpicked ingredients.

This candle was made to be placed on a darkened windowsill or above a crackling fire. Once it’s been lit, you can sit back with a glass of mulled wine and a classic Christmas film; the gorgeous perfume infusion of seasonal fruits and spices will turn the coldest of nights into a warm and cosy festive escape.

“We created this candle and its matching pack because we love getting the opportunity to show off our expertise in the development and manufacturing of a complex, luxury pack. Ultimately, it’s the MW take on Christmas indulgence, and we can’t wait to share it with you. That’s why we’ve made a handful of our candles available to a few lucky followers.”

To be in with a chance of winning one of MW Luxury Packaging 300 limited edition Christmas candle gifts, follow them on LinkedIn and subscribe to the monthly MW newsletter.

“We’ll be picking our lucky winners on Monday 9th December, just in time to send out our candles and get them warming your home for December 25th.”

Bisto, OXO & Paxo Limited Edition Tins

Creative Agency: Robot Food
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Client: Premier Foods
Location: Leeds, UK
Packaging Contents: Gravy, Stock & Stuffing
Packaging Materials: Tin

When it comes to household brands, you don’t get much more iconic than Bisto, Oxo and Paxo. To bring some extra cheer to the autumn/winter season, Premier Foods asked Robot Food to create a series of special limited edition tins.

The designs needed to be eye-catching and contemporary while building on each brand’s values. They also needed to be the sort of tin consumers would proudly display in their kitchens, and either keep for refills, or reuse for other purposes.

Playing on existing equities, the Robot Food team came up with three designs that gave each brand a refreshingly contemporary twist. The Bisto tin grabs your eye first with the striking red shades, then with sheer size of the iconic logo. Second is the ‘Aah!’ which sits like a crown above it. ‘Since 1908’ underneath the logo brings in the heritage element, and the Bisto boy himself takes pride of place in the tin’s top-left area to classically modern effect.

Decked out in two shades of vibrant red, the Oxo tin design takes inspiration from London’s famous skyline with the striking OXO logo in pride of place across the top. The Paxo tins are equally eye-catching. The blue hearts, in two contrasting shades, form an attractive repeated pattern around the tin on a bright yellow background. The ‘Perfect for all roasts’ slogan sits on the lid. The overall effect is classic meets cool.

Nongfu Spring - Year of the Monkey

Agency: Horse
Project Type: Produced, Commercial Work
Packaging Content: Mineral Water
Location: United Kingdom

Horse designs limited edition mineral water

Design studio Horse has created the packaging for a limited edition and collectible mineral water for Nongfu Spring, which celebrates the Chinese Year of the Monkey.

The studio designed the core range of glass bottles for Nongfu in 2015, which feature various plant and animal species from the Changbai Mountain water source, and were tasked to create a collectible version for 2016.

Ian Firth co-founder and creative director at Horse comments, “It was a natural progression from the core design to highlight the animal which represents 2016 in the Chinese Calendar, whilst also being sure to inject some fun to differentiate the limited edition run. A family of monkeys playfully swings from the branding and text on the bottle to reflect their cheeky spirit, and details are pulled out in gold foil to make it feel that little bit more special."

Nongfu intends to create a limited edition design each year, for the next 12 years. Reflecting the family theme of the design, and in the spirit of celebration and giving - bottles will be given to families with newborns from this lunar calendar.

Santa Margherita - Pinot Grigio 50th Anniversary

Designed by Minale Tattersfield, United Kingdom.

Santa Margherita launched Pinot Grigio fifty years ago and was the first company to sell the variety commercially. Today the brand is the largest selling Pinot Grigio in the world. The variety is particularly popular in the USA and Santa Margherita is the by far the biggest selling brand there. The magnum bottle introduced to mark the anniversary is the first sparkling Pinot Grigio and is produced according to the metodo classico (champagne method).

Marketing objectives serving as a base for the solution
Santa Margherita wanted to use the 50th anniversary of its Pinot Grigio to promote the brand. Minale Tattersfield created a design formed from one label superimposed on another to construct an L, the Latin numeral for fifty. The objective was to inform consumers of its pioneer and high quality status in what is now a crowded market. The design follows the classical elegance of the brand denoting quality and timelessness, communicating its relevance to today. A magnum of sparkling wine is traditional for celebrating but this product has the added task of announcing the introduction of a new variety, sparkling Pinot Grigio.

Nutella Esperienza Italia 150

Designed by ARC'S, Italy.

What is the nutshell of Italian excellence? And how the beloved Nutella can celebrate it, together with millions of Italian families? This has been the starting point for the design of the limited edition of Nutella “Esperienza Italia 150”.

ARC’S has interpreted the project in four themes: Arts (music, poetry, cinema), Design, Landscapes & Architecture, Historical topics. The result is a fresh and joyful dialogue between Federico Fellini and the matchless Moka for coffee, Rome and Venice, Garibaldi riding a Vespa!

Words and design mix together, words become design and they beat a syncopate rhythm. For example, the “Landscapes & Architecture” theme in English would sound something like “The train makes us run quickly: from the Alps to Sicily joints Rome the immortal with Pisa and its Tower and Venice laying on the water!”

The soul of Nutella, which is usually represented by its limited edition, becomes one unique thing with this Anniversary and ideally embraces all Italians, from the South to the North, as a sole big family.

Blue Nectar’s No. 1

Designed by Mark Grey, Creative Director at Blue Nectar Design Consultants, United Kingdom.

Blue Nectar’s No. 1 is a limited edition ale designed by ourselves and brewed by one of our local brewery clients in the city of Derby, UK. The purpose of the ale was to produce a product that captures the essence of everything we do, creating compelling brands and putting them into beautiful packaging. The self initiated brief required us to create a design that stood out from the current offering that is seen within the UK ales market, whilst making what is often perceived as a rather old fashioned product more contemporary.

The core of Blue Nectar’s work is within the alcoholic drinks arena – making the production of a finely packaged limited edition ale an ideal platform to showcase our services. 300 bottles of Blue Nectar’s No. 1 were produced, each of them hand dipped in specially coloured wax, matching our brand colours. The medallion placed onto the neck compliments the surface texture of the wax cap very neatly. The digitally printed label onto GF Smith textured stock was blind embossed to create the contrast in surface finish.

Having recently exhibited at the Packaging Innovations Show in London we distributed the ale as a calling card to prospect clients. This worked to great effect and helped generate many quality leads.

The ale itself is a delectable, easy drinking 4.8%, malty traditional amber beer.
